The problem

I love sending and receiving physical mail, but I almost never send it. Writing, buying a stamp, and finding a blue mailbox is often too much friction.

So I built Postcard Press.

I wanted an easier way to stay in touch with friends, so I built the MVP in one night with Claude Code, the PostGrid API, and Stripe. Just upload a photo, write a note, and add an address, and Postcard Press prints and mails a physical postcard for you.

Who it's for

Postcard Press keeps long-distance friends and relationships connected. It's for anyone who wants to send something real to someone far away, without hunting for stamps or a mailbox. Common users include:

  • TravelersSend photos from a trip to friends, right from your phone.
  • Long-distance friends & relationshipsStay in each other's lives with mail that feels more thoughtful than a text.

Competitors

Card apps already handle printing and mailing, but they're built around designing a card, not quickly sending a thought.

  • TouchnotePolished, but subscription-first with lots of steps.
  • PostableBuilt for holidays and bulk sends, not everyday notes.
  • HallmarkTemplate-driven, so it doesn't feel like you.

Validation

First, I built an MVP prototype with Claude Code, hooked up to PostGrid's print-and-mail API. Before making it production-ready, I wanted to validate the idea. Here's what I did:

  • Demoed it in personGave a demo to 10+ people at ProductCon, a product manager conference in SF.
  • Shared the build onlineOrganic video posts reached 100K+ people on Instagram.
  • Set up a waitlistCollected 100+ emails (built with Tally).
